Part Time Cooks is a hip hop duo based out of Seoul, South Korea and this week we are featuring the video for their song “Old Friends”. The narrative is based on the tale of Frankenstein and follows the doctor through the surgery and creation of his monster. The video boasts a fun amount of gore throughout the surgery process as well a sleek, modern design for the monster. However, the video is more than just an appealing aesthetic as the lyrics of the song focus on isolation, preoccupation, and the sacrifices necessary to success; a similar comparison to the obsession Victor Frankenstein possessed during the creation of his monster in the novel. This video was released just in time for Halloween a couple weeks ago but still offers up a fun watch even after the season. Enjoy!
